Joining Our Club

Become a Part of Commonwealth Golf Club

Members are encouraged to propose new candidates for Club membership. Current application forms are available from the office or via the links below.

New Member intakes occur when places become available and are subject to field sizes and player comfort, aspects that the Committee monitor very closely. Exceptions may be given for applications from family members, women and juniors, which will be considered when received.

Member Guidelines

The Proposer and Seconder both must have been members of the Club for at least two years and be personally known to the Candidate.

Neither the Proposer nor the Seconder can be in the Restricted membership category. Two referees are required, and although members are preferred, external references are acceptable. The Proposer is responsible for the provision of the completed forms and will be the sole point of contact with the office as the candidate’s application goes through the membership process.

Proposer Information & Form

An application to join Commonwealth Golf Club consists of the following elements:

  1. Application form completed by the Proposer and signed by the candidate.
  2. Seconder form completed by the seconder.
  3. Two Referee forms signed by members (or references from non-members) in support of the application.
  • Please read of page one of the application form so you are aware of the responsibilities and guidelines of the proposer, noting that as proposer, you should have regard to your obligations to the club, rather than to the candidate.
  • Please ensure all questions on the application form are completed in a comprehensive manner to enable our membership sub-committee and general committee to have a full and complete character summary of the candidate, enabling them to make an assessment as to the candidate’s suitability for membership.
  • Incomplete forms will not be accepted and will unfortunately delay your candidate’s addition to the waitlist, which is currently estimated to be 4-5 years.
  • Upon receipt of the fully completed documents to the office, either in person at reception or via email to reception@commonwealthgolf.com.au, the candidate will be added to the waitlist (subject to initial review of the application forms) and the application fee will be processed.
  • The Nomination form will be provided for signature by the Proposer, Seconder and Candidate and once returned, will complete the application paperwork.
